5 Head-Turning Electric Vehicles at the IAA Mobility Show

5 snippets of different electric cars

The IAA Mobility Show kicks off in Munich next week with a range of exciting new electric models set to take centre stage and showcase the future of electric mobility. Some of the biggest names in the industry are preparing to reveal their latest creations, and we’ll be there to bring you closer to the action. But before the Nevo team lands on the ground, here’s a quick rundown of five models that are sure to grab plenty of attention.

1. Mercedes GLC Electric

Mercedes is bringing a fresh twist to its GLC, this time built from the ground up on a brand-new EV platform that will eventually support the next C-Class too. Fast charging technology borrowed straight from the latest CLA means you won’t be hanging around at the plug, and a projected range north of 700km makes this a seriously capable long-distance cruiser. Styling has also taken a step forward: expect an upright, classic Mercedes-style grille cleverly adapted for aerodynamics. We actually had a Nevo first-look at this one recently, so keep your eyes peeled for more exclusive content.

2. BMW iX3 Neue Klasse

Few reveals are as significant as this. For half a decade, BMW has been teasing the arrival of its “Neue Klasse” platform, a complete reboot of its EV line-up, and the iX3 will be the very first production model to showcase it. The design is cleaner and less divisive than recent BMW efforts, and the numbers look promising too: expect around 600km of range and a stripped-back, modern interior. Even more exciting, this platform will underpin six new models over the next two years, including an all-electric successor to the legendary 3 Series.

3. Skoda Epiq

Skoda is going smaller but smarter with its new Epiq, a compact SUV designed to slot beneath the Enyaq. It promises about 400km of range, distinctive styling, and, perhaps most appealing, a very competitive price tag. The Epiq is also part of Volkswagen Group’s big push to flood the Munich show with accessible EVs, joining models like the Cupra Raval in proving that electric doesn’t have to mean expensive.

4. Opel GSE Concept

Opel is turning up the heat with its latest performance concept, part of its GSE sub-brand. Taking inspiration from the iconic Manta 400 rally car of the 1980s, this all-electric powerhouse delivers staggering figures: 588kW (800hp), 800Nm of torque, and a top speed of 320km/h. It will sit alongside the fully electric 280hp Mokka GSE crossover on Opel’s stand, giving visitors a taste of what’s to come from Opel’s sporty EV future.

5. Polestar 5

Rounding out the highlights is the Polestar 5, a sleek grand tourer that takes direct aim at heavyweights like the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS. Built on Polestar’s first bespoke EV platform, it’s set to deliver nearly 900hp in its range-topping version, paired with rapid-charging tech to keep it practical as well as powerful. First seen as the Precept concept in 2020, the Polestar 5 brings that vision to life with production intent. Stylish, fast, and ambitious, this could be Polestar’s defining moment.

From long-range family SUVs to jaw-dropping performance concepts, the IAA Mobility Show is shaping up to be a showcase of just how diverse and exciting the EV world has become. We’ll be covering it all, so make sure to follow Nevo across our socials for a closer look.
