Kia Introduces Flat-Rate Plans for Public Charging

Kia Ireland has rolled out a major upgrade to its public charging service, and it’s one that could make life a whole lot simpler for electric vehicle owners across the country.

The Kia Charge service now offers access to over 4,500 public charge points across Ireland, and a massive 900,000 across Europe. It’s compatible with all the big-name networks you’d expect, including ESB, Ionity, EasyGo, ePower, and Applegreen, meaning Kia drivers can plug in almost anywhere with one simple card.

But it’s not just about access. Kia Ireland has also introduced a new flat-rate pricing model, offering clear and consistent charging costs, something many EV drivers will welcome. The highlight? A public charging rate of just €0.50 per kWh across the Kia Charge network (excluding Ionity), helping to take the guesswork out of topping up your battery.

Two Plans to make things simple

To make things even easier, Kia Charge now offers two plans tailored to different driving habits:

  • Easy Plan: Ideal for drivers who mostly charge at home or work. You’ll pay €0.76 per kWh for AC or DC charging, with no monthly fee. A €0.59 session fee applies.
  • Advanced Plan: Designed for those who rely on public charging regularly. It offers the lower €0.50 per kWh rate for a €4.99 monthly fee, and there are no session fees.

Both plans come with overstay fees to keep things fair: €0.50 per minute after 10 hours on AC chargers, and after 45 minutes on DC chargers.

As for Ionity, it’s still accessible via Kia Charge at €0.73 per kWh on both plans. There’s also a separate Ionity subscription available if you want to lower that rate further.
