Hyundai is expanding its electric lineup with the all-new IONIQ 3, a compact EV designed to bring the futuristic styling and technology of the wider family such as the IONIQ 9 into a smaller, more urban-friendly package. Revealed at its Irish launch in the K Club, the IONIQ 3 introduces Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, alongside pixel-inspired H-signature lighting and a distinctive Aero Hatch rear design that gives the car a much sharper and more premium look than many traditional hatchbacks.
Small footprint, impressive range
The IONIQ 3 will launch with two battery options. The Standard Range model uses a 42.2kWh battery with a range of up to 344km, while the larger 61kWh Long Range version delivers up to 496km depending on specification. Hyundai says the battery can charge from 10–80% in around 29 minutes using a DC fast charger, while AC charging of up to 22kW is supported.
Could this be Hyundai’s next big hit?
The IONIQ 3 feels like Hyundai has taken everything people already like about the larger IONIQ models and shrunk it into something far more usable for everyday life. It looks futuristic without trying too hard and packs genuinely competitive range figures. If first impressions are anything to go by, the IONIQ 3 could end up being one of the most talked-about compact EVs arriving into Ireland over the next few years.
