KGM Musso EV - Review

KGM, formerly known as SsangYong, is stepping into the EV utility market with the new Musso EV, an all-electric crew cab pick-up that blends traditional practicality with modern EV technology. Underneath sits an 80.1kWh BYD Blade Battery, delivering a claimed WLTP range of up to 420km, while a 207hp electric motor produces 339Nm of torque through a front-wheel-drive setup.

Built for work and everyday use

The Musso EV has been designed to balance worksite usability with everyday comfort. It offers towing capability of up to 1.8 tonnes alongside payload figures of up to 500kg depending on specification. There’s also Vehicle-to-Load functionality, allowing tools, equipment and external devices to draw power directly from the vehicle itself, a feature becoming increasingly important in newer EVs.

A much more modern cabin than expected

Inside, the Musso EV feels considerably more premium and technology-focused than previous KGM models. Dual digital displays, a large infotainment screen and a cleaner dashboard layout help modernise the experience, while the crew cab layout provides strong rear passenger space. On the road, refinement is one of the biggest surprises, with the electric setup making the Musso EV noticeably quieter and smoother than many traditional diesel pick-ups.

Worth considering?

The Musso EV feels like a genuinely interesting alternative in a segment still heavily dominated by diesel. With solid range figures, practical towing capability and a large battery setup, KGM looks to be targeting both commercial buyers and lifestyle users wanting something a little different.
