Video Review
Renault is bringing back one of its most recognisable city cars with the all-new Twingo E-Tech. Now in its fourth generation and fully electric for the first time, the new Twingo combines styling cues inspired by the original 1992 model with modern EV technology. With a targeted starting price below €20,000, Renault is positioning the Twingo as an accessible entry point into electric motoring.
Built for city life
The Twingo E-Tech is powered by a 60kW front-mounted electric motor and a 27.5kWh LFP battery, delivering a range of approximately 263km. Weighing around 1,200kg, the compact hatchback has been designed primarily for urban driving, where its 9.87-metre turning circle helps make manoeuvring and parking easier. Renault has also equipped the Twingo with bidirectional charging technology, supporting both Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality.
Small car, clever packaging
Despite its compact dimensions, the Twingo continues the model’s tradition of maximising interior space. Sliding rear seats can move by up to 17cm, allowing owners to prioritise either rear passenger legroom or increase boot capacity to as much as 320 litres. Inside, a 10.1-inch infotainment display with Google built-in provides access to navigation, voice controls and a range of connected apps, while the cabin design combines modern technology with references to previous generations of the Twingo.
Worth considering?
The Twingo E-Tech focuses on the qualities that have defined the model for decades: compact dimensions, practicality and ease of use. With a targeted sub -€20,000 price point, a flexible interior and technology designed around everyday driving, it aims to offer a different approach to affordable electric mobility. We are still waiting on confirmation it’s going to hit Irish shores so stay tuned to Nevo.ie for more updates.
