Video Review
Volkswagen's most iconic small car is finally going electric. The new ID. Polo marks the seventh generation of a true bestseller, only this time it's been completely reimagined on Volkswagen's MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive and a clear focus on getting the essentials right. With a start price of €19,885, could this be the best affordable option on the market?
Range, Power and Charging: What the New ID. Polo Delivers
Pre-sales kick off across Europe at the end of April, with three power outputs at launch (85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW), two battery options, and a range of up to 455km from the larger 52 kWh NMC pack. The smaller 37 kWh LFP battery still delivers a respectable 329km, and DC fast charging comes standard across the board, meaning a 10–80% top-up in as little as 24 minutes. And for those of you waiting for the more powerful trim, a 166 kW ID. Polo GTI is on the way too.
Compact Size, Big on Space and Smart Tech
Despite its compact 4,053 mm footprint, clever MEB+ packaging unlocks room for five and up to 441 litres of boot space. Inside, the cabin follows VW's new Pure Positive design language, intuitive, uncluttered and thoughtfully detailed. There's plenty of tech on board too, including a digital vehicle key, Connected Travel Assist with traffic light recognition, one-pedal driving, and a vehicle-to-load function for powering external devices like e-bikes. With the chassis tuned for that classic Volkswagen blend of comfort and dynamism, the ID. Polo brings the same easy, do-it-all charm that made its predecessors a household name, just with a much quieter commute.
